“Our Man in Havana reports that the senior echelon of the leadership
of FAPLA has been retired following the insufficiently revolutionary
"thrust" north in July.
Greater enthusiasm for the great cause is expected in August
following the appointment of Samuel R B o "Navigador" to direct
command.”

London Times – Thursday July 24th 1975
It has been reported that Agostinho Neto, a
senior member within the Soviet sponsored terrorist army in Angola, MPLA, has
been executed due to differences over military strategy in the recent turmoil
in Angola. He was an advocate of defending
regional centers to restrict the mobility of UNITA.
The action may have been taken due to the recent
successes by the Cuban backed FAPLA on the western coast of Angola, who have
used a single very strong military force to engage with the western sponsored FNLA and now are believed to
control all major towns between Luanda and the Zaire border.
Some commentators have however attributed the
FAPLA success more to the bad military leadership within the FNLA.

was vague what crops they were intending to assist on developing when I
attempted to interview the Russians.
I made a joke about perhaps gun cotton and the atmosphere went very
cold.”

Moçâmedes Meteor 75-07-03
Bishop Alexandre
Fidelius O’Martin of Moçâmedes, in the Archdiocese of Lubango has demanded that
the Portuguese authorities clarify why there have been so many Portuguese
military aircraft flying over Moçâmedes from the Portuguese base at Cuito
Cuanavale. He suggests that the
colonial government was “bullying” his congregation with their actions. No reply has been received as we go to
print, to numerous calls by the Meteor to the Portuguese Air Force 2ª Região Aérea HQ outside Luanda
